Utility Services of Iowa helps manufacturers, processors, and other commercial and Agricultural businesses to reduce or eliminate state sales tax on their monthly Energy Bills. This including Electric, Natural Gas, and in some cases Water. We perform an on-site visit to create an Energy Study that is required by your Utility and the State of which your located. Depending on the State your business is in, this exemption will be valid for the next three years up to indefinitely. The immediate benefit is seen on your monthly utility bill with the reduction of sales tax charged. You can potentially start saving your company thousands of dollars in sales tax annually.
In addition to saving monthly going forward, we can also submit a refund to the State so that we can recoup past taxes paid for the previous allowed period. This refund comes in the form of a check delivered to you for the full approved amount we claim.

WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS QUALIFIES FOR A SALES TAX EXEMPTION?
If your business uses Electricity or Natural Gas to manufacture or preform a process to change the end product, you most likely qualify for this benefit. This could include businesses such as Metal Fabricators, Powder Coating, Ready-mix Concrete, Plastics, Printing, Food Processors (Restaurants), Livestock, Grain Drying..etc.
WHAT DOES THE BUSINESS OWNER NEED TO DO DURING THIS PROCESS?
Business owners or managers will work with us directly to preform an on-site visit. When the visit is complete and we gathered the needed information, the responsibility of the business is done. We will then take complete control of the process to the end.
WHAT IF I HAVE MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?
If a business owner has multiple locations such as a Restaurant chain, we will schedule visits to each store in a small window of time. Doing this keeps all locations organized with the Utilities and the business owner. Documentation for each store specifically will be provided for your records.
